Active Shooter in NH when Pence Cancelled
Jul 2, 2019 NEWINGTON
Pease Air National Guard Base was placed on lockdown for just over an hour Tuesday after reports of gunshots being heard.
According to officials at the 157th Air Refueling Wing, they received multiple reports of noises sounding like gunfire inside and outside of Building 100 on the base around 11:30 a.m. Base security officers and local law enforcement responded to the scene, as well as state police.
Newington Police Chief Michael Bilodeau said by the time his team arrived, military personnel had cleared the building. Officers had stopped one individual, but it was determined he was not involved.
The scene was officially cleared just after 12:35 p.m.
Bilodeau said they interviewed all of the witnesses involved. By Tuesday afternoon at 4:30 p.m., he was confident there was no danger to members of the public or the base community.
There was no active shooter,
Bilodeau said.
I
m not sure what the sounds were, but there is a lot of construction going on at the base right now.
Bilodeau said his police department will continue to investigate the incident. Anyone with information about the situation can call Newington police at 603-431-5461.
