Anon looking for meme & thread help.

Graphics anon here.

I understand your confusion.

Some clarifications:

1

You are right that there are significant differences in screen viewing graphics and printable graphics. You can see screen viewing differences here when some graphics are very clear and big as opposed to others that are small and clear or small and so blurry they are unreadable.

2

For Twitter, 1024 x 512 pixels is the desired size to supply memes.

It is best to optimise these images so they are clear but as small as possible for easy/fast movement over the internet.

3

If you don
t know about pixels, look them up and learn about them. They are the little particles that make up the images on a phone/tablet/desktop screen and there are 72 particles/dots in an inch. A square inch would be 72 x 72 but we are only talking about a linear inch. Most desktop printers will reproduce ok at 72dpi but I would go with a higher resolution (resolution is the term for how many dots are in the linear inch – the more dots, the higher the resolution). Printing on printing presses industry standard is 300 dpi (dots per inch) at 100% in size. Rule of thumb is reduce a 300 dpi image no more than 80% and enlarge no more than 120%.

4

If your images are of poor quality (low resolution), changing the resolution in Photoshop eg, will not fix the problem. Find or create a new image.

5

Test your printable work out by taking some similar dpi images on a page to get printed.

6

If you make an image at 300dpi for a 1024 x 512 pixel meme and optimise it in Photoshop (look it up), it will transfer to phone, tablet and computer perfectly. If you enlarge your screen by using your fingers on tablets and phone or view size on a computer, the image quality will degrade until you resize your device back to normal size. Attached some measurement graphs.

7

As for imparting large volumes of information, use PDFs. If you are using Word to create your documents, there will be an option to save a PDF in the drop down menu after you click
Save as
or maybe it
s just
Save
(can
t remember how Word works). A PDF can be saved in many levels of quality but not sure if Word offers options in its function so just Save As and then press ok. Test the PDF by taking a trial page and have it printed once you are sure your dpi specs are up to quality.

8

Optimising is all about making a document or picture/meme as small as possible in quantity at the best quality possible. Think of small/large in terms of weight.

If you look through a bread, you will see some memes are jpgs, some are pngs and they have sizes in kB or mb attached above them in small text. These are your clues. Examine the sizes and compare the differences in quality. You will see occasional images come in at 4mb or 6mb – HUGE files that take a long time to load compared to smaller ones (I have even seen bigger files) and they are generally high res pics offered up by anons for others use in memes. I always steal these for possible future use.

9

As for
Creating a Thread
on the board, I have attached a screen shot to show you where you make a new thread. Yes, in time it will drop off the board BUT if you are offering up some serious shift, and it sounds like you are, this will be looked at by other anons and recognised and dealt with accordingly, I
m sure. The thing to know about the threads are that if you don
t do some regular something or other for two weeks, it can be claimed by another anon. I am not that familiar with all that stuff but I read about it when I got started.

I don
t want to make a thread but I should put my toe in the water with baking and I will soon. Some real life intrusions lately.

Hope this helps.
