Tree-fell councillor resigns over ‘abuse’

The councillor who was leading Sheffield’s controversial tree-felling programme has quit the role. Councillor Bryan Lodge had been cabinet member for Environment and Streetscene at the city council for two years. Since 2012, 5,500 trees, assessed by the authority as dead, dying, diseased, damaging or dangerous, have been cut down.
